The big cloud providers stay up because their systems are automated and repair themselves. We use the same open-source building blocks to run your systems, whether they live in our managed cloud or on servers in your office.
We describe each system in a single configuration file, and NixOS builds it exactly to spec. Nothing is changed by hand, so nothing quietly drifts out of shape.
Kubernetes grew out of how Google runs its own services, and it’s now the standard way to run software in the cloud. Each of your apps runs in its own container, and Kubernetes keeps watch over all of them.
ZFS was built at Sun Microsystems (now Oracle), and it’s trusted in some of the biggest data centres in the world. It checks every piece of data it stores, so anything damaged is caught and repaired from a second copy.
The same kind of automated, self-healing tooling the big cloud providers rely on.
In our managed cloud, or on servers in your office. Same tools either way.
We set it up, monitor it and keep it updated. You just use the apps.
★ Does this run in the cloud or in my office?
Either. Your services can run in our managed cloud, or on servers in your office if you go on-premises. The technology is the same both ways.
★ Do I need to understand any of this?
No. That’s our job. You get apps that work, and we look after what’s underneath.
★ Isn’t Kubernetes overkill for a small business?
It scales down well, and lightweight versions run comfortably on a single small server. Self-healing and safe updates cost very little.
★ What happens if the server dies?
In our cloud, we rebuild it from its configuration. In your office, we send an identical replacement to plug in. Either way, your data comes back from backup.
★ Why open source?
No per-seat licence fees, no lock-in to one vendor, and tools trusted by organisations of every size.
